Hawaiian
Luaus
The Islands of Hawaii are of course the
only place in the world where you can find a true luau. The Big
Island of Hawaii has its share of luaus to share with its island
visitors. Most are located on the western shoreline from
Kailua-Kona up to the hotels in the Waikoloa area and you will be
certain to find one to round out your Hawaiian experience.
No visit to Hawaii would be complete without taking in a luau.
This Hawaiian feast will include kalua pork, which is cooked all
day in a pit called an "Imu". In addition you will find
lomi lomi salmon, chicken long rice, haupia, poi, your choice of
many, many salads, fresh island fish, teriyaki steaks and a
variety of other "Americanized" dishes,
Entertainment will feature dances from ancient Hawaii, but also
from many areas from around the Pacific Basin. You'll see dances
from New Zealand, the fire-knife dancing of Samoa, the drums of
Tahiti as well as the dances of other South Sea Islands.
Your trip to Hawaii will not be complete until you attend a luau
but plan it early as they can often book up in advance.
